On April 2, 3 & 4, 2010 eight members of
Rising Sun Karate Academy traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada
where they
competed at Caesars Palace in the USA National Karate-do Federation
Junior Olympics and USA Open. The USA-NKF is the United States
branch of the World Karate-do Federation.
The
eight members included: Sensei Richard Herbster, Mr. Mike
Lindenmayer, Mr. Anthony Wang, Miss Michelle Wang, Angelo Vasile,
Bryan Clark, Brenna Dambroski and Delilah Thomson.
All eight of these karate-ka trained overtime, in Special
Elite Competition Classes in preparation for this prestigious event.
This event attracted over 2,000 elite competitors
from around the world representing 42 different countries.
While
competing in this extraordinary event, against some of the best
competitors in the world, the eight competitors from Rising Sun
Karate Academy won 36 medals.
The eight RSKA competitors competed in kata, kumite and
kobudo weapons.
This event is the premier Traditional Karate
Tournament of the Year. Each year this event attracts teams and
individual karate-ka that flock to Las Vegas for the Junior Olympics
and USA Open as the Karate Capitol.
It truly becomes an alphabet soup hosting
Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Botswana, Brazil,
Canada, Columbia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia,
France, Georgia, Germany, Guatemala, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan,
Luxembourg, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Panama, Papua New
Guinea, Peru, Poland, Puerto Rico, Republic of Kosovo, Sao Tome and
Principe, Slovakia (Slovak Republic), Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, United
Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Vanuatu and Venezuela.
Rising Sun Karate Academy is looking forward to
returning to this spectacular event with our 2011 team of
competitors.
